CHAPTER THREE RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
3.1 INTRODUCTION
Research can be defined as finding out the truth
about a thing, event or situation. It is a systematic way of finding out about
the worth or otherwise of a given subject matter. It is usually a process of
acquiring relevant information in order to solve a given problem. Research is
any organized enquiry that aims at providing information for solving identified
problems.
However, research methodology is the way and
manner of systematic approach in which we go about to investigate or examine
the nature of the relationship between variables i.e. events, processes, or
observation.
Although, method of research in another sense
could be planned ways of doing something and techniques or tools used to gather
data.
The research problems addressed in this study is
the evaluation of teamwork in the hospitality industry. The questions strategy
planned play an important role about people’s view on teamwork in the
hospitality industry.
This chapter contains the research design,
population of study, sample size/sampling procedures, sources of data, research
instrument (questionnaire) and method of data presentation.
3.2 RESEARCH DESIGN
The research design used for the study is the
survey research design. It can be defined as the gathering of information from
respondents for the purpose of understanding, predicting some aspects of the
behaviour from respondents and also for the population of interest. This is the
methodological foundation of this study.
3.3 SAMPLE SIZE/SAMPLING PROCEDURE
Sample size talks about the economic samples.
However, sampling technique clearly defines one’s behaviour as more appropriate
and more important than others and focuses on one procedure. The procedure is
to observe one behaviour and record all instances of that behaviour.
To obtain some measures of reliability of the
research, the sample size was pegged at 60 respondents.
3.4 SOURCES OF DATA
The sources of data for this research work was
based on Golden Tulip and Signature Suites. It also includes the review of
relevant literature internet source and journals extensively written or
documented directly or indirectly on subject matter.
3.4 RESEARCH INSTRUMENT
The research instrument used in collecting data to
answer the research questions are majorly with the Questionnaire.
The Questionnaire used comprises structured
close-ended (simple) question. This is to help researchers for easy
codification as well as assisting respondents in providing easy answer to
questions and remain anonymous of options expressed.
3.5 METHOD OF DATA PRESENTATION AND ANALYSIS
The data gathered for this research work were
analyzed using chi-square statistics.
